Eagles Nest Airport Show & Shine – Saturday, May 31, 2014

The Ione Rotary is going to put on a top Show & Shine. There will be an air show and a grand raffle prize of a ride in a P-51. Five wineries on site, lots of great food starting at 7 AM with a full pancake breakfast with Boy Scout Troop 477. Open headers on the airport.

Driving instructions from Sacramento:

1. Take US 50 east to Sunrise

2. Exit Sunrise and go south 5 miles to Jackson Highway, Left on Jackson Highway

3. Go about 12 miles to Rancho Murieta, continue 2 more miles on Jackson Highway to Ione Road, right turn onto Ione Road

4. Go 7-miles south-east to SECOND Carbondale, (tile plant on right), turn left onto Carbondale Road (Note- First Carbondale is OK, but a rougher road)

5. Go up Carbondale Road 2-miles to Lambert, go up Lambert 1-mile to Airport & Show

WARNING- Do not use Google maps or GPS routing, these systems will take you on dead end country roads!!!

WARNING- If coming from Plymouth or Jackson (motels) west on State 16 to Carbondale, DO NOT take the first Lambert Road, it is gravel & dusty. Lambert makes a “U”, go to the other end of Lambert (further down Carbondale) to the nice paved end to the airport.

There will be four P-51 Mustangs at this Show and Shine and a professional photographer available to take your picture in front of a WWII P-51 fighter.

Open headers are requested once you are on the airport property!

There will be several car clubs with street rods to classic cars attending.

There will be some very special private tours/events only to car clubs!

Clubs will have an opportunity to place their car in front of the P-51D Mustang for a close up photo by a professional photographer.

There will be a private tour of one of the remaining fully operational Rolls Royce P-51D Merlin engine overhaul shops on the airport. Car Clubs only!

We will have a raffle for a ride in one of the P-51D fighters at 3 PM.

Only car clubs are invited to bring their RV’s on Friday and spend the night. Several WWII fighters will be landing early Saturday morning.
